Overview
A mobile Asset Manager for MCIM’s internal Field Service team, built to catalogue and manage hundreds of new assets at a new data center site — and get them into the MCIM system with clean data, online and offline. It is MCIM’s first mobile tool.
The Ask
When a new data center site comes online, hundreds of assets have to be captured — areas, models, photos — accurately and fast, often without a reliable connection, and land in MCIM as clean data.
The Solution
An offline-first mobile app. Changes are saved locally first, sync automatically when online, photos upload in the background, and conflicts are shown for review. Technicians organise each site by areas, add and edit assets and models, attach photos and scan, with clear sync status, warnings and a manual sync when something needs attention.
It is also the first application of the MCIM NS (“Not Salesforce”) design system I developed — a true React mobile design system for building off the Salesforce platform.
What’s next
The app will soon roll out to clients beyond the internal team, with the potential to grow into a full client-facing technician mobile experience.
